Review on πŸ“‘ Nooelec SAWbird GOES - Premium Dual LNA with Ultra-Low Noise & Saw Filter Module for NOAA Applications at 1688MHz Center Frequency. by Antoine Collins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great product but NEED INSTRUCTIONS in the packaging!

I now have 5 GOES SAWbirds and love them. I am the author of the program for getting GOES GRB - "GRB Imager for Windows" (free). SAWbirds work very well and I don't think reception would be possible without them. You can also use them to get "HRIT". But I agree with the other reviewer here (JohnG) that there should be markings on the packaging showing which side is DC+ out and which side is, or simple instructions. . I had to take mine apart to find out! It should be very easy for Nooelec to mark the DC+ output side. Or attach a small piece of paper explaining this. If this product came with a simple little guide I would give it 5 stars instead of 4. To be clear, the side with the LED is the DC+ output. powered by a bias tee on the computer. I power the bias tee with the black (-) and red (+) wires of the USB cable. The central "+" and the outer conductor "-" (shield) are on the power pack. The metal case is also very nice and helps protect the electronics. But it's not rainproof and you can't leave it on a satellite dish without extra protection. I tried and the rain came in. I add some waterproof sealant and it's good. I hope this review helps people make an informed purchasing decision and fills in the gap until the guide is added.
