SAWbird GOES is a self-contained LNA module designed for capturing beautiful weather images available from NOAA GOES satellites. Each module contains 2 ultra-low-noise LNAs (single package), sandwiched around a custom-designed, high-performance SAW filter centered at 1688MHz. SAWbird GOES can be powered in 3 ways: via bias tee, through the on-board microUSB connector, or through DC barrel connector with the included USB to DC connector adapter. Though compatible with most SDRs, we recommend using in conjunction with NESDR SMArTee XTR v2 (available on Amazon, item ID B06Y1GN5RP). For a higher gain, lower noise version, consider SAWbird+ GOES (available on Amazon, item ID B07GBFNV1H). Includes free male SMA to male SMA adapter and USB to DC barrel connector adapter. I'm a fan of nooelec at computers and accessories

What can I say, I think I'm a fan of nooelec. So far I love every Nooelec item I've bought. I had a little trouble figuring out where the entrance and exit was, but after a quick search on the internet I found it.

Great product but NEED INSTRUCTIONS in the packaging!

I now have 5 GOES SAWbirds and love them. I am the author of the program for getting GOES GRB - "GRB Imager for Windows" (free). SAWbirds work very well and I don't think reception would be possible without them. You can also use them to get "HRIT". But I agree with the other reviewer here (JohnG) that there should be markings on the packaging showing which side is DC+ out and which side is, or simple instructions. . No instructions or specifications!

I received what is shown in the picture plus a cable with a USB plug on one end and an unknown size socket on the other. My guess is that this cable is used to power the device from an unknown power source at an unknown voltage. There were no instructions or diagrams included. The device does not indicate which SMA connector is an input and which is an output. Does anyone know the answers to these questions? Please don't reply with "I guess it should be like that". This is what you need if you plan to use SDRPlay RSP

If you plan to use RSP-2 you will need this SAWBIRD model. There is another model that costs $2 more and looks very similar to what you probably need if you are using a NESDR SMARTee or SMARTee xtr. Difference? This SAWBIRD claims 20dB of gain and draws only 30mA. Another model claims 30dB but draws 180mA. ASDRPlay RSP-2 only delivers those 100 or 150mA in my opinion - then it's crowbars.
