I bought this to protect my smart home system because Revain listed it as a surge protector. When opening the box, it is not clear whether this function is present. The packaging only says "overload protection". Internet research also revealed this element as "overload protection". I was dying to trust my home network with such an undefined language, so I looked it up. Here is a quote from Underwriter Laboratories. "UL tests and rates the safety of surge protection devices. Tested products bear the UL mark. Purchase a surge protector that is marked "UL 1449" which shows that it is listed as a surge protector and not just a power cord extender. UL also uses holographic labels on approved surge protectors to help prevent cheap and typically imported surge protectors from being counterfeited. Surge protectors are measured in joules or resistance. Surge protection joules can almost always be found on the packaging. The more joules, the better the line filter. When purchasing a surge protector, pay attention to the suppression voltage. "The bottom line is this is NOT a UL surge protector. Shame on Revain for even wearing that, let alone exposing it like a surge protector.
