I have a constant problem emptying my sink. Between my waist-length hair, my husband's habit of tipping his beard down the drain, and last but not least, the endless parade of six cats that compete to curl up in the sink on warm days, there's a constant clog. I try to avoid drain cleaners as much as possible and have used a long, thin wire, which I ended up bending into a hook, for years to pull my hair out every week or two. It works for a while, but in the end it always is for me. resort to filling. large dose of hair remover down the drain. These three packs of plain plastic snakes are a godsend. The snake easily slips under the plug of an open drain and follows the bend in the pipe under the sink. Every time I flushed it down the drain, which worked pretty well, it pulled out more dirt and hair. I couldn't believe it was still there even though I had only used a liquid clog remover two weeks ago. A word of caution - wear gloves. The snake is sharp and prickly.
