Review on πŸ’» Black Samsung Chromebook 3 XE500C13-K02US with 4 GB RAM and 16GB eMMC, 11.6 Inch Laptop by Daryle Grove

If I had to rebuild, I would choose a different model.

I had two of these. The first was replaced due to hardware issues. The general function is ok. I'm not against design for the most part. HDMI port, 2 USB ports, mini SD memory card port, decent screen size. The keyboard is also relatively comfortable. Chrome OS isn't that bad, but it has its limitations. I installed Linux on it once, but uninstalled it due to some issues (I can turn it back on when I have time). However, I'm having a few issues with this Chromebook, and the same issues occurred on both Chromebooks I've had. First, fresh out of the box, both have noise in the headphone jack. It's incredibly annoying. Unless I'm listening to music that can easily drown them out, I usually have to find some sort of white noise playing in the background to hide them. The Bluetooth function has problems. I have some devices it just won't connect to. I usually have to remove them from the list and sync them again to connect, which is tedious. However, if you use a wireless headset, it will take care of the headphone jack static. However, the biggest problem of all is the keyboard and screen. When the Chromebook is closed, the screen touches the keyboard. When you open it, there are marks all over the screen that need constant cleaning. Even the gentlest cleaning will damage the screen over time. I have light spots all over my screen and a large yellow spot in the lower right corner. They have also formed after the screen was subjected to little or no pressure during cleaning. Considering the cost of this Chromebook, those issues aren't worth it.

Pros
  • Keep my fists
Cons
  • Expensive
