Best Wholesale Food for Chinchillas

8 years ago we welcomed a Guinness (Black Coated Chinchilla) into our family. He came up with lots of questions about how to take care of a chinchilla as we've never had anything like him (mostly cat and dog owners). We used to go to pet stores and buy him seeded food and treats mixed with baled hay pellets. Over time, he began eating less and less compressed hay and more treats and seeds, becoming very picky about his food. We didn't care, and finally one day I noticed that his eyes were starting to water almost uncontrollably. We took him to an exotic vet (because our little boys can't go to a normal place) and they found that his jaw was slightly deformed and his molars were starting to grow because he wasn't eating pellets, just treats, and he has discomfort (malocclusion) which, if left untreated, can lead to death. Note**. Chinchillas eat hay pellets to grind down their back molars naturally (chinchilla teeth keep growing over time, if they never grind down their teeth they would grow into their molars). palate and eventually leads to an agonizing death) After learning that we are harming the chinchilla mainly through the choice of food, and after a week of tube feeding, as a child, due to his dental surgery, we decided to find an alternative . We switched to Oxbow Animal Heath chinchilla food. It took him a few weeks to realize that his treat would never come back. But eventually he started eating hay pellets again! Now I buy this food exclusively for our little boy and he doesn't have to go to the dentist anymore. Don't repeat the same mistake we did. Buy Oxbow Animal Health Enriched Small Animal Food for Chinchillas. It turned out perfect for our little guy and it will be perfect for yours. Guaranteed.
