I'm looking at the cheaper ones (about half the price) and the ones you rent from the auto parts store. That might be normal for a small car, but even then they look cheap and unsafe. It is screwed to the spring so that it cannot slip. I've used it a few times while working on Mustang race carriers. Keep it well lubricated (don't skimp on lube) and it will last a lifetime. Also just to give you an idea of the quality. Cheap ones do not recommend using a percussion instrument with it. This one does. The time saving alone is worth it.
