Review on πŸ”˜ Aqara Wireless Mini Switch: Versatile 3-Way Control Button for Smart Home Devices, Works with Apple HomeKit & IFTTT by Colin Arcos

Great wireless button but not always reliable

I just got into home automation with Homekit and found that Aqara devices are a great family of products. First, yes, you need an Aqara hub. The description is very clear on this so anyone giving 1 star to this product really needs some help and is being unfair to the product. all three button modes for Homekit so you can assign any automation with other Homekit compatible accessories directly from the Apple Home app or other Homekit apps like Eve or Home+ 4. I am currently using them to run different light scenes in different rooms. The only problem I've had so far is that they don't always work. You push the button and nothing happens. You wait and click again. Nothing. Then it works a third time. Most of the time they work as advertised. I use a single press to start a lightscene, a double press to start another lightscene, and a long press to turn off all lights. Of course, what you assign to the button modes is entirely up to you! A final note on this is that since they use a Zigbee signal (I think Aqara uses a slightly custom version) the range is pretty good. My hub is on the top and most of my sensors and buttons are on the bottom, and they all show signal strength ranging from acceptable to strong. I will only buy Wi-Fi or ZigBee based accessories and stay away from Bluetooth only devices with their terrible signal range.
