Better battery life than Ikea remotes

I have used Ikea remotes which are cheaper than these but Ikea battery life is a little below average. They feel a little better and the battery life "seems" to be better - I'll have to upgrade after a few months of use. I wish they had made remotes with more buttons too. Addendum: The battery lasts quite well. I use one of these as a doorbell button and run my Raspberry Pi to play custom bells. To clarify, I already have an existing setup with a Raspberry Pi running Home Assistant, so having…

A small 3 action Zigbee switch that works with Home Assistant

Nothing wrong with this switch so far unless Zigbee is a protocol your home automation doesn't support. It's small, has an adhesive backing if you want to stick it anywhere, uses a standard CR2032 coin cell battery, and works with Home Assistant (HA). My Home Assistant setup uses the HUSBZB-1 USB stick, which provides both Zigbee and Z-Wave radios, and this switch works very well with them. You won't see anything other than the device's battery in the HA item list, which is fine. However, the…

Super useful mini switch, easy to program, great price

I've tried various HomeKit devices over the last few years and finally settled on the Aqara system. Along with the Smart Hub, I also bought an Aqara Mini Switch. Adding the switch to my HomeKit ecosystem literally took less than 30 seconds between the time I opened the box and the time the switch was integrated into the Home app. True to its name, the mini switch is thin and small (but not too small), and the button doesn't feel cheap or flimsy. It can have up to three different assignments…

Great wireless button but not always reliable

I just got into home automation with Homekit and found that Aqara devices are a great family of products. First, yes, you need an Aqara hub. The description is very clear on this so anyone giving 1 star to this product really needs some help and is being unfair to the product. all three button modes for Homekit so you can assign any automation with other Homekit compatible accessories directly from the Apple Home app or other Homekit apps like Eve or Home+ 4. I am currently using them to run…
