While this motor is easy to install, it is noisier than the 15 year old motor I replaced. In contrast, I've bought genuine Nutone OEM motors over the years and the fan has been significantly quieter since replacing the motor. Motors with a sleeve bearing (rather than a ball bearing arrangement) at each end of the rotor and a rotor that may not be perfectly balanced contribute to louder running noise levels. Exhaust fans manufactured in recent years have improved designs and reduced noise levels. If you're concerned about the constant low purr of a noisy replacement motor, it's probably time to replace the entire fan assembly, even if it requires extra effort. Your ears will appreciate it.
