Make great rhythm sticks for less
Purchased 1/2 inch dowels. I use them as rhythm sticks in the children's music class I teach. It is great! I think for my purposes I would prefer slightly thicker 3/4" sticks - 1" would be more ideal. However, the price was right and they do the job perfectly. I can try to get my husband to grind me some sticks with a router so they look more like expensive rhythm sticks too. However, the kids LOVE them and I spent a fraction of the price on them and got way more than I could get with "real" rhythm sticks.
