Bought for an art project. If you want high quality wooden dowels that are already nicely sanded, these are perfect. Skip the trip to H*me Despot - you don't have to go through a bunch of dowels to try and find a decent one. Everything is perfectly smooth, without chips. These dowels are of excellent quality - properly measured, well cut, smooth, no splinters or stains. I am happy to use them all for a decorative project and will definitely buy from Spechten again. It's not easy to find unfinished, pre-cut wood that is also of good quality or exactly as described on Revain so I really appreciate this product. Purchased 1/2 inch dowels. I use them as rhythm sticks in the children's music class I teach. It is great! I think for my purposes I would prefer slightly thicker 3/4" sticks - 1" would be more ideal. However, the price was right and they do the job perfectly. I can try to get my husband to grind me some sticks with a router so they look more like expensive rhythm sticks too.
