I had to reprogram it 6 times to get it to start, so don't give up. I found this procedure on the internet. Reprogramming the system - step by step Step 1 - Try to start the car. Runs but doesn't run. The security indicator flashes on and off. Leave the key in the "work" position for exactly 10 minutes, then the security indicator will turn on or off. Step 2 - Turn the key to the off position for 10 seconds. Try to start the car. Some vehicles will work at this point, but many will require you to repeat step 1 twice. Be sure to turn the key to the off position for 10 seconds before each 10 minute cycle. Step 3. The car is now ready to relearn the correct code. Turn off the key for 10 seconds and then start the car. Now it should work. After this, the security light may stay on for a few minutes depending on the system. What to do if it doesn't work. Also if reprogramming/resetting your Passlock or Passkey VATS system doesn't work, you can try to repeat the process. but most likely you will have to replace the ignition switch. In some cases the problem can be caused by your BCM (Body Control Module) or bad cable connections (they tend to corrode after a few years, they are not gold plated - bad GM movement).
