The wooden storage box is great for organizing and protecting your punches from dust when they are on your desk or shelf. It's not great when put in a tool bag and rubbing against hard objects as the light material latch will break/tear and damage the box and the bumps will splash all over the place. If you need a set of punches for your tool bags, look for punches that come in small plastic cases that don't waste space. The stamps themselves are great, I used them to print on a T6 6065. Aluminum, copper, thin stainless steel, metal dog. Labels, spare car/house keys and other materials thin/less dense than steel. Naturally, the denser the material is stamped, the less embossing will occur on the material, which also results in faster wear of the face of the letter. It is recommended that you stamp your entire object on one hard, flat surface onto another hard, flat surface. (a piece of steel plate/granite/Delrin (dense hard plastic) on concrete) so that all of the hammer's energy is transmitted through the punch, the stamped material and into the ground. If you hit the shock-absorbing object with your fist, the printout quality will deteriorate and uneven printouts will result. Also, it prevents damage to the surface of your item and the item you use as a flat surface. Mine was shipped in its own plastic wrapped box which looked better than the real box. I'm glad I bought mine but I had to. People complain that hits are uneven, that's the nature of hammer hits. Only hydraulic or gear presses produce even pressure across the entire raised edge of the letter. If the stamps aren't aligned on the X axis, you'll get odd kerning (gap) if the stamp isn't aligned on the Y axis. Words look oddly wavy. All these problems are normal for die/punch, human error/operator error and have nothing to do with die quality. The obvious exceptions are stamp manufacturer error, email tekton. They have pretty good customer service and will most likely solve your problem. I have seen Tecton deal with low rating issues due to missing part, broken, rusted and various other issues.
