This is Katherine's Husband: I was a little apprehensive about buying these gloves for my stairs due to the size of my stair handrails. They fit the thickness perfectly, but were a bit too big for the 2.5 inch width (the width of the stairs). These gloves are truly made for industrial size ladders that are 3" wide rails. So I cut a 5/8" x 7/8" x 3" piece of PVC from scraps left over from the window sill project. The corners are rounded so they don't stick out and tear the glove and it fits perfectly. ,See attached picture.Now they fit so snugly and I don't have to worry about them slipping when I move the ladder..I highly recommend these 3" wide handrails for stair railings, otherwise you should tidy for something underneath Being smaller. I love these mittens and can't wait to actually use them. The material is soft yet durable to 'stay in place' by pressing the weight against what you're holding the ladder against lean, and has an additional small tail on the inside of the glove to better lean on the target area.
