Nothing "clear " about UClear

Before purchasing this product I did a lot of research and spoke to a few other cyclists about bluetooth communication. We were very happy with this purchase, even for $400. The product is fairly easy to install on the new Harley-Davidson modular helmet. The product comes with a quick installation guide and a very quick user guide. It does not come with an instruction manual. While you often won't need a user manual or can download one online, this is a very complex piece of electronics and should come with a user manual. It does some REALLY cool stuff like gesture controls and you don't actually have to touch the buttons! The application that you download on your phone is not easy to set up according to the attached quick guide. I was only able to sync everything and work together after reading the manual a couple of times. I finally got everything set up on both helmets and our two iPhones. Once you get it right, it works great in your home. The problems start when you get on the bike. The UClear app has a "Support" button right on the first page of the app and they really advertise their support. When you press the button, the next screen shows three options: The first is "Call Support". When you click this, your phone will prompt you to call UClear Technical Support. You should NEVER talk to anyone. You must leave a message. They NEVER call back. When you finally understand how good their service is and email them or open a service ticket, they respond within 48 business hours. The issue we had with the closed (modular) full face helmet was the mic going in and out causing you to hear road noise etc when neither of us were talking and a huge amount of static - what that was the worst of the two. Questions. We tried riding in different places, thinking that the static electricity might be caused by external sources like power lines, etc. I mean Bluetooth - the distance from my wife's helmet to my helmet was only 24 inches. How difficult is it? In terms of microphone sensitivity, as recommended by UClear, we saw little or no improvement. The setting ranges from 0 to 100, and the default is 50. They recommended increasing the sensitivity so the microphone doesn't turn off without asking for a human voice. .It worked for some, but we never got rid of the noise. It was enough to send the goods back.We were very disappointed!
