The battery packs can be charged on it even if they're not attached to a controller so, if you only have one controller you can still charge the other pack. The game storage isn't necessary since most games are purchased digitally but at least that part is just the corner slots so it doesn't take up hardly any space. It holds up really well. My cat knocked ours off the shelf and it fell two and half feet, console and all. Fortunately the ports only bent slightly and didn't snap off inside the Xbox and I was able to straighten them and it still works great. It scared the cat bad enough that she avoids it now but is otherwise still fine and sassy.
