Review on Ridgid 26998 COMPANY GIDDS 813353 Machine by Daron Ellis

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Easy to use, good for rough plumbing jobs

We usually have to call a plumber to clean the drains 1-2 times a year for about $200 each. I've only used it once but the Ridgid K-400 worked very well. It was easy to set up and use and cleared my block. At less than $600 before tax, it pays for itself quickly. The K-400 is easy to set up. The device is quite heavy, so wheels are a good idea. It only took a few minutes to set up the machine for first use, attach the wheels, loosen the set screw on the bail, extend the handle and fit the correct tool to the end of the cord. The kit contains everything you need for immediate use, including gloves. Pulling the cable into the duct was not difficult. The 1/2 inch cable is a bit stiff so it took some effort to get through a few bends in the pipe. After a few minutes I felt tired but went to the other side of the car and switched hands. on the cord allowed me to keep going. I also found that pulling the cord out wasn't too difficult, but I had to be careful not to let the cord touch the internal threads of the pipe cleaner to make sure the threads for the cleaning cap weren't damaged The machine doesn't take up too much space, so finding a place in the backyard shed wasn't a problem. Again, wheels are needed as the unit is quite heavy.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Not the best
