When I ordered this product I wasn't expecting such great results. I needed a replacement for my SONY drive that was over 5 years old. Times have changed to make ODD obsolete, but I've amassed a huge collection of DVDs, Blueray. So all I needed was readability and this one works fine but is a bit slower than my Sony. Except for this and without the 5V adapter, this product is ok. By the way, Amazon offers an LG at a much lower price, but I avoided it due to the bad history with LG ODD. LG worked well for more than half a year and then failed. Not one, but 3 units!. The Japanese ones I used lasted years not months!
