At first I had to use some force to move the parts to change configurations, but then it was easy to convert one configuration to another. I'm glad I ordered this, it's so useful for crafts, resin, wood paneling, edging, wet sanding when your machines aren't that great for that and you're going to be processing a large area, and night work when your neighbors are going to hate you, if you do use a power tool.
