When purchasing a programming cable for the Baofeng UV-5R radio, be aware that there are cables that look like they will fit and they do in fact fit. However, cheap imitations are just a cable with the right ends and do not include the necessary integrated circuitry on the USB side. These cables will NOT work! I have this cable from Revain. It was shipped very quickly and arrived in good condition. I inserted the mini CD that came with it and set it up on my laptop. I downloaded the free programming software (CHIRP) and started programming the UV-5R with no problems.
