I bought this 50-500mm Sigma because I'm tired of switching different lenses and want to find a general purpose lens. This is a lens with good reviews so I bought it. The overall image quality of this lens is good, but the only problem I encountered was with the autofocus. Autofocus does not work properly, especially at the maximum magnification of 600mm, resulting in a not-so-sharp image. However, under the same conditions at a distance of 600 mm, manual focus results in a sharp image. So I think the autofocus doesn't work very well. I'm not sure if this is a compatibility issue. I used a Canon EOS 6D Mark II, but searching the web I found common autofocus issues with some Sigma lenses. Sometimes Sigma lenses don't autofocus at all, sometimes not perfectly. So if you don't mind manually focusing all the time, this lens should be fine. It's also possible I got a defective lens because it's not sold by Sigma but by a third party called Robert's Fojjer. So be careful if you get it from a third party. So I returned this lens after a day of wildlife shooting. I chose the Sigma 150-600mm lens which is cheaper. If he also has a similar problem I'll stick with my Canon 70-300mm which is very sharp, inexpensive, light weight and good for the wild. Also, the first impression when I pick up this lens is that it is a heavy lens (almost 2kg) - even heavier than my Canon DLSR camera body (around 1kg)! It's not as easy to hold as I thought it would be. So if you need something that you want to carry around easily, you might want to consider something else. However, as far as I know, all 600mm lenses are quite heavy. Maybe a Tamron 18-400mm APS-C sensor lens (28.8-640mm equivalent) would be a good choice, but I had a full-frame camera and Tamron has an APS-C lens.
