I bought a Ryobi reciprocating saw and 4Ah battery to cut some branches. I needed blades designed for this purpose, so I started investigating the internet. I'm familiar with curved hand scissors and their effectiveness, but they're usually most effective in one direction. These straight blades are designed to cut in both directions (reciprocating) and I couldn't find a better deal in a set of 5. I've used them primarily on 1/2 to 2-1/2 inch diameter limbs. I can say that green wood is easier to cut than dead, hard wood. With the saw/battery combo I have, you can cut a lot of branches before the battery needs charging. I bought a special diamond shaped file for sharpening curved saw teeth because each tooth has 4 sides and I think it will work for these blades too. The only thing to watch out for is pinching the blade, which can bend it or bump your wrist. These usually last a long time on me.
