I recently purchased a used Makerbot 2 Replicator and am making slow progress. sensor problems. I decided to replace the thermocouple that came with the kit as I found it was broken after taking it apart. This is a direct replacement; All I had to do was screw it into the heater block and wire it to the terminals. You should note that it's just as flimsy (solid wire) as the original, but at $9 I think it's still a better buy than some of the more expensive options. (strand)
