Replacing the supercharger on a Chevy Tahoe, tips and how to remove/install.

Replacing the supercharger on a 2002 Chevy Tahoe, 4x4 clutch and replacing the clutch coil. But the compressor was aftermarket, a little-known brand, made in China. I definitely didn't want to mess with a supercharger that had already done 40,000 km and had a defective clutch coil. The logical choice for me was a more expensive US made compressor from a well known brand like Denso. To remove and install the supercharger (I have the owner's manual for that truck) you need to jack up the car, remove the passenger wheel, remove the plastic inner fender (the inner plastic fender is held in place with compression plastic clips, if you carefully remove them you can reuse them), you will have the 2 upper compressor bolts directly in front of you and easily accessible. Remove refrigerant, remove compressor discharge and suction lines, cover both ends with blue masking tape (blue masking tape leaves no adhesive residue). Go under the car, remove the plastic cover (if any) located under the radiator. This will give you access to the o tensioner with a 3/8 extension and ratchet. Insert the end of the extension into the square hole of the tensioner pulley so you can relieve pressure and remove the compressor belt. Loosen the 2 bottom compressor bolts, patience is a slow process with a 1/4 turn with an open ended wrench, no room for the ratchet and socket. The front lower compressor screw does not come out (no room for it); it can be removed only after the compressor has completely failed. Keep this in mind as you will need to install the new compressor with this screw already in the hole. Disconnect the compressor clutch electrical connector and high pressure connector at the back of the compressor. Push the suction and discharge lines aside; Unscrew the 2 upper screws of the compressor. Remove the compressor through the opening in the fender between the chassis and engine (Looks tight but there is room, you don't need to remove other parts like the radiator hoses). Installation is in reverse order. NOTES: 1) There is a YouTube video of a technician removing the compressor from top to bottom. You have to lose the fan blades and fan cover to get the job done. It's not worth it, you will suffer in vain. 2) If your compressor has an internal defect and you suspect there are pieces of metal in the line, you will need to blow out the lines and replace the suction accumulator that is draining the silicate compound. and the filter inside and you need to remove the hole/expansion device that also houses the filter. The correct way to flush the lines with nitrogen is when using compressed air, moisture gets into the lines and also you don't expect a new compressor to last too long. You can flush the lines with refrigerant gas, but it is not environmentally friendly. The longer the pipes are exposed to the air, the more likely it is that moisture will enter the system and you will need a vacuum pump to remove the moisture. The moisture problem is more complex than what I'm describing, google it! Avoid this work on cold and rainy days. 3) The new compressor does not come with new o-rings, I strongly recommend that you replace them o, the o-rings are cast into a metal disc, let's call it "flushing". O-ring kit link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C2QM1M?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00ASIN B000C2QM1M4) Additional Notes The new compressor comes with enough oil for a dry system so my I that It is taken into account that the suction accumulator will be replaced with a new one. If you install a new compressor with an old suction accumulator, you will have excess oil in the system. Excess oil reduces cooling capacity and can flood the new compressor with oil, which can also lead to component failure (the compressor cannot compress the oil). Read the instructions that came with your compressor regarding the amount of oil it contains and how to adjust it. It is best to install a new accumulator on the intake and you can avoid adjusting the oil charge. Turning the refrigerant bottle upside down introduces pure liquid refrigerant into the system. Not recommended if unsure of what you are doing as liquid refrigerant can get into the compressor. If after installing the compressor, the compressor tends to bind and slip the belt and the new compressor makes strange noises, then you have done something wrong. , it will break.
