Review on πŸ’» MacBook Thunderbolt-Compatible Samsung Industrial Electrical Adapter by Josh Tadder

Revainrating 5 out of 5

You get what you pay for: DOA; Dubious design choice.

I ordered this adapter because the price was right, the metal construction looked nice and I thought it would be strong enough. The "box" portion of the adapter feels solid, but the USB-C cable that comes out is *extremely* flimsy/thin. As a result, I see this as a likely point of failure. However, I will never know how DOA was received. When the adapter arrived I plugged it in and got it. blank screen computer restarted; without change. I went to explore the displays and noticed that my computer *thinks* something was plugged in. But the monitor itself shows "no signal". So I tried disconnecting and reconnecting. temporarily got a distorted, distorted, distorted image, and it went black again. In my experiments I then connected to the Thunderbolt dock port and the result is the same. In the end I got lucky with a direct connection and it worked, but the image was slow and had a lot of tearing. This is a Samsung 4K (3840 x 2160) monitor that supports the latest HDMI and DisplayPort standards and my cables support 60Hz 8K etc. 2 times I got the adapter working (after countless tries and plugging in) but it was outputting 3840 x 2160 but the signal was limited to 30Hz even though my display, cables etc supports 60Hz. I have many issues, the questionably thin USB-C cable and extremely intermittent performance caused me to request a refund rather than an exchange. I see several other 1 star reviews where it's DOA and I don't want to risk being unable to use my display with this laptop for a few days. Do yourself a favor and pay a little more to ensure you get a working product. Of course I would like to.
