A Little Secret About This Thing

You might not expect much from this little thermometer when you first see it, after all it looks a lot like most of those cheap little plastic things you put the Must report temperature your room. It actually costs less than many of them, so you can just skip it without thinking twice. But wait, for around twelve bucks, this little device is worth considering if you have or plan to get the right AcuRite home weather station components. I have one of their more luxurious weather stations, although it's not necessary to consider this sensor. My device has one of those weather vane sensors that mount on the roof to monitor rain, wind, temperature - actually five different things, which is why it's also called a 5-in-1 weather station. The internal display shows you all of this, tracking highs, lows and trends over time. One of the nicest things about the device I have is that it works with their app so I can check everything I mentioned and more on my phone or tablet not just from home but from anywhere. I can even set it up via email or SMS to notify me of extreme temperatures that can cause pipes to freeze, or even if a room suddenly gets too hot, e.g. B. in a fire. I can even add sensors for the freezer, pool, fish tank, and many other things that may be exposed to extreme temperatures. This device provides me with additional temperature and humidity readings for different rooms, e.g. B. an attic or a storage room. barrack. There are two different versions of it: one is just a sensor and the other is with a digital display. Both cost the same so my logic is why not get one that also gives me a remote reading as well as just one sensor. I don't know how they can afford to sell this thing with built in wireless connectivity to your weather station and phone app for only twelve bucks. Here's what they don't say directly, but if you dig deep enough you might find some background information. about that. The temperature and humidity sensors built into AcuRite weather stations don't last forever, over time they will start giving you weird results and keep telling you they've lost signal or that the batteries are low even if they do are fresh. There is a replacement module that sells for about four dollars for a roof unit, but the one built into the internal reader cannot be replaced. Well that's not 100% true, what you can do is turn it off in the software and add one of those little remote sensors to replace it and the app won't notice the difference. So for a few bucks to get this thing I basically bought a brand new weather station.
