I use this unit for either MP3 audiobooks or FM radio. Here are the reviews based on it. I find the player quite comfortable, but definitely not the best for audio books. ADVANTAGES: 1. It has a resume function - your CD will restart on the same track at the same offset (same place on the track) where you last stopped the player. I think that's probably the most important feature.2. It has a Fast Forward/Rewind feature within a track, which is pretty important too (when you get distracted and need to go back a few seconds, not the whole track)3. It can play folders/subfolders well.4. It can play MP3s at a low bitrate - the lowest I've tried - 32Kbps 22MHz5. The radio works normally. The controls (at least the basic ones) are pretty intuitive - I can use them with one hand without looking.7. Displaying MP3 tags on the LCD is pretty decent.8. (Hopefully) Sony quality - I love Sony electronics, they are usually reliable and durable. Most other brands don't even come close. Time will tell if it holds up. CONS: 1. You lose your seat as soon as the batteries die. The design is quite odd - the battery cover is UNDER the CD rather than the bottom of the player. Therefore, to replace the batteries, you must remove the CD. Once you remove the CD, you've lost your seat. (As with the Rio or iRiver models, the resume function is not available after ejecting the CD). You can partially get around this if you have an AC adapter (not included in the US, but you can probably use the universal one) and use the player's bookmarks feature (I haven't tried that yet). You need to connect the player to an AC adapter and mark a track when you change the batteries. In any case - as soon as your batteries run out, you should return to your original location. 2. No quick +10/-10 track function (would be useful if you need to go back to track after battery change - see #1 above)3. No remote control. It would be very nice to have.4. The LED screen does not light up. At night you can't see what's going on. I probably wouldn't say I regret buying the player, but it's definitely a far cry from the Rio SP-100 or iRiver iMP-150 I had. If only iRiver made decent models again I would definitely buy another one, even though they don't usually last more than a year.
