Review on ๐Ÿ”’ Enhanced SEO: Pair of WARN 29071 Standard Manual Locking Hubs with 27 Splines by Marco Cervantes

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good but far from perfect

I like the unreliable automation manual, it goes without saying. But these jacks have some drawbacks, apparently as cost-cutting engineers from Warn. First, they still have a 1/4 turn, which isn't a lot of leverage. Snap - no problem, you just rotate and the spring action will lock the splines as you rotate the axle. But disengaged, you're now battling wedge friction with little mechanical advantage. You just need to have the wheels loose/unloaded or you won't be able to disengage - it's not always easy to meet the off-road requirement. Other 3/4 turns of MM or RR are better here. The real problem is that the actuators are plastic. It usually doesn't matter much, lube them and they won't wear out. NEVER use pliers and they won't break. Unfortunately due to braking issues my bushings got very hot and those damn plastic parts actually melted. The hubs partially engaged with an uncomfortable grinding noise and the possibility of lots of metal shavings getting into my wheel bearings. Too bad. My next kit will be all metal and 3/4 turn.

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember
