I swim a mile a day, six days a week. I got them to improve my form and because traditional paddles didn't work for me. Before I started using them, I had severe pain in my wrists. If I don't get placement right (and there's a learning curve), I'll start having problems with my arms. But I have chronic pain and fibromyalgia so I'm not sure if this is the best sensor. I will say that, I prefer the stability of these velcro over the traditional ones. The fact that it stabilizes the wrist is great and I've had a lot of compliments on it and my form has improved. My only complaint about them is that they don't come with replacement rubber tubes (and if you put in the one that came with some plastic it falls off) so I had to take them out of the box and they aren't black. Pink will look weird with yellow, but it's not a runway show.
