Review on πŸ”§ High-Quality Shock Struts with Premium Support - 2002 to 2010 by Doug Hawkins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very easy to install. Perfectly balanced.

Racks arrived within two days of ordering, I didn't expect them to arrive so quickly. Decided to replace them immediately. There weren't any instructions, but it's not hard to figure out how to install them. There is a bracket at each end that snaps around a ball that attaches to the hood and frame. I just removed the clips from the old pair using a small pick and hammer to pry the posts off. A small screwdriver that fits in the slot will also work. I replaced one side while raising the hood as high as possible with the old struts still in place and pushed both the rod and piston ends into place with a light tap. The end you attach last obviously has to line up with the balloon it's going into, but that was easy because the hood was already in place. The hood of my 2004 Dodge RAM is fairly well balanced now. Now it rises by itself instead of falling. As I close it near the end of the travel near the latch, the weight of the hood eventually lowers the hood. For those trying to compress these racks prior to installation, don't worry, this proves nothing and may require more strength than you have. Not sure about plastic or nylon rod tips and hope they hold up as well as the rest of the tackle but at least I'm off to a good start. I'm sure they'll lose gas over time, but there's plenty of lift at the moment. Now it's time for an oil change.

Cons
