Review on 📷 Tamron 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD Lens for Sony Full Frame/APS-C E-Mount, Black by Abhi Abzz ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I'm happy with it, the price and the quality, I recommend to buy it.

Has pros: Addition 2: in my copy there was a hidden defect in one of the magnets of the focusing unit motor, which led to the movement of the optical axis and the shift of the focus plane, respectively, to blur the focus in part of the frame. The Tamron service diagnosed the problem and issued a conclusion without delay, according to which I was able to return the money for the lens in the store. For the excellent service of Tamron and his customer focus, I increase my rating by 1 point. Addition 1: in the process of using the lens with 7RM3, it turned out that autofocus is unstable, in other words, in a good half of the cases of shooting distant static objects, it smears so much that the object may not even get into the depth of field, which is especially noticeable at the long end of the zoom. I was very surprised by this, to be honest. The camera has an AF Mircoadj. option, but it is not supported with this lens (camera firmware and lenses are the latest). With manual focusing from the lens, you can get a stunningly detailed picture at infinity, starting from f / 2.8, but provided that you have not made a mistake with the focus position. And autofocus will not help here in any way, for a guaranteed result when shooting a landscape, you should not rely on it. Initial review: When shooting urban evening landscapes, point sources of light are beautifully drawn by thin-beam stars at f / 7.1 and f / 16-22. On other diaphragms, the rays are either very short and indistinct, or have the shape of "mills". The lens is surprisingly very light and compact - perfect for travel/hiking. If desired, you can buy an alternative production tripod foot IS-135FE. But I think that a standard on-camera L-platform will be enough. At 180mm, don't forget about microlubrication, use an e-shutter and a cable / autosauce. Cons below: Addition: problems with the stability of the AF at infinity (see above). The lack of an AF / MF switch on the lens - you have to climb into the camera menu. Focus ring without mechanical interface with the focusing lens block.
