I think Miracle Mud has to be trusted to work. I have been running ecosystem type marine aquariums for 8 years and have found them to be very stable and can successfully support good populations of fish, inversions and coral. Honestly, I can't say that's nonsense. However, I was able to remove the skimmer without any negative effect on the water condition in the aquarium. So something in the system is working and that's why I continue to use Miracle Mud in my septic tanks. However, it still seems very expensive for what is basically sea mud.
