Usually leather professionals recommend only using 100% pure hoof oil, but I chose Fiebing's hoof oil as it is cheaper and pure hoof oil has its own unpleasant smell. But I don't think the savings were worth the worries the complex is now causing. After the first application, the clean foot composition had a distillate odor, almost like petroleum distillate or gasoline. What is worrying is that some leather products use glue to glue the edges or double the genuine leather. This type of "distillate" compound can melt or dissolve adhesives or glues used in leather. This "connection" may not be worth the risk of ruining the leather product.
