It was hard to say exactly what they would be until I received them and opened the packaging. They are simply a flexible mesh attached to a stretchable plastic backing. You stretch the thing, stick it to the window, and then the stretch releases and it sticks to the window. I loved them at first because I taped one to the window and it stayed there for about a month. Since then I have never had such success. It usually doesn't even last all day. The good thing is that it's soft. So if it falls down and hits the kid, it won't hurt him. However, when a toddler plays with it, I get a little nervous about the plastic. I think it's a low risk of injury, but I can imagine maybe a choking hazard in extreme circumstances. While this product is safe to play with, the fact remains that a child with this lampshade on their lap will still have a light on their face. Vehicles, is that the rear window is divided by a separate piece that faces backwards and does not move up and down. When the child is looking backwards, this window is the main source of light on the face and this product should not be used to cover this window at all.
