Didn't calm me down. Agree, this is a difficult task. I am a menopausal woman with night sweats. I also have a Tempur foam mattress which is known to absorb and hold. I bought this mattress topper just so it wouldn't catch fire and spontaneously ignite every night. I appreciate reviews but I have to say I think the reviews saying it helps keep you cool are fake as Styrofoam teeth. I woke up at least (no exaggeration) 10 times a night to that mattress pad, ripping off blankets and making up new swear words while rolling onto the cool side and lying there, waiting to fall asleep again. It's really good for your concentration the next day, I can tell you that. I would have sent it back but it was too late. However, I have a few suggestions for people in my situation. I first bought another mattress topper called the Marquis here on Amazon. They claim the same thing, it's bamboo and should keep you cool. I put it on this mattress topper and I would say it works about 50% better. Noticeable difference. I can't tell if it's better because it has this protector underneath so it's double insulated between me and the mattress or if it's just a superior product but it helped a lot. Second, I bought a weighted blanket that had tiny glass beads sewn into it. You can get them here at Revain and get the ones that are 100% bamboo fabric. They weigh 20 pounds so they feel nice and heavy, but they really help keep you cool in the summer and insulate your body heat in some way so you can wear them in the winter and stay warm but comfortable. Don't skimp and buy the cotton coated ones, you need bamboo; it's harder. Then I took a fan and put it right next to the bed and it turned me on all night. Finally there is a product from Revain, I haven't bought it yet but it is a mattress topper that can be filled with water and cooled electronically with a small bedside machine. it has very high ratings. I didn't get it because what I'm doing is working well enough for me so far. I wake up a few more times, but not like I used to. If you are reading this review and looking for a pillow that will keep you cool, I would buy this mattress topper. I would buy a Marquis pad and see if it fits you on its own.
