You're probably looking at this to plug in a plug for something. This CAN work if your connector is very narrow - for example a plain 2 or 3 pin connector with no adapters at the end of the pins. I couldn't even install most of my USB charging cables, but the connector I bought it for did. The hole dimensions were not well described at the time of purchase. My measurements are: HOLE 1 5/8" wide 2 5/8+" high 15/16" deep (from bezel) Of course it takes up more space in your work box, but it's as compact as can be (1 11 (16" deep). Snap or loop/bolt connectors, although lacking the good clamping plates you find on the bolts of some higher quality sockets.
