Review on πŸ”” Coghlan's Function Whistle: A Reliable and Versatile Outdoor Survival Companion by Anthony Hales

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I bought it for a whistle and thermometer and a compass.

whistle: very loud. At first I blew on it too little and thought it was defective. I gave it a good kick and wowza yes it works great! Short bursts work well too. Compass: I'm new to using the compass, but I know west must stay west and so on. I've tried this many times in my house, I've shaken it vigorously many times and checked that the directions are pointing in the right direction. For the most part that was true, although sometimes it seems a little different, but I think it might be me. Thermometer: The writing is small, but my close-up vision is perfect, so I have no trouble reading this. . For those of you who are far-sighted, this might be a bit trickier. I don't have another thermometer to compare accuracy exactly, but with my own body thermometer it seems accurate. When I turn off the air conditioner in the house, this baby's temperature slowly rises and vice versa. The numbers shown correspond to 10 values, and the highlighted dashes in between correspond to 5 point values, plus an additional red line for 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Magnifying Glass: It takes a little effort to pull them out, but you can definitely do it. This is not a problem. Insert it from one end and use your nails to grab and open it from the other side. Or use a thin tool like a knife or small tool to push it all the way through. Utility: A small magnifying glass, magnifying objects a bit. Miscellaneous: The clasp itself is made entirely of plastic, there are no loops. To open it wide enough to hang, squeeze it and it bends a little. The clasp itself is slightly ajar (1 mm). It can be attached to anything thicker than a millimeter and will not fall out. I was going to give it four stars because the compass on the dash COULD be wrong BUT it could be my lack of skill so honestly I won't shoot. Star. Even if it deviates in a line, I travel on trails so I don't need anything heavy and if I did I would buy my own compass. This little article is amazing! I bought it mainly for the whistle and thermometer and it meets my expectations. The compass is a plus and I don't care about the magnifying glass anyway. The clasp is a simple plastic thing, it's thick, strong and will do the job, I don't think it's going to break anytime soon, it can also be replaced with a tiny carabiner if you like. Overall 100% worth the money.
