Walked the Pacific Crest Trail with me. Useful for general navigation.

The temperature is difficult to read but gives you a rough idea of what was important to me. The compass worked great for general navigation. In fact, during the PCT hike, I relied on it to get through places where it was impossible to find the trail because of the snow. The compass provided the correct general direction for navigating the forest when I needed it. I kept it strapped to my shoulder pad and it never had an issue or breakage, despite being banged all the time, putting the backpack

Bought two of these in one order. My daughter wanted the children's version, which costs almost twice as much. They are identical except my adult version is black and their child version is yellow. Same body size and such. The only difference is that the children's version says "KIDS" on the packaging. They have the same sound, same volume, everything. Both compasses work and are filled with liquid. I had to buy two adult versions, but it's nice to have two different colors on hand.

Pros
  • Great overall performance

  • Could have chosen a newer model

YOUR survival is YOUR responsibility.

I collect Bug Out Bag [BOB] for every family car. I included them as a key component. My Thoughts: The expectation [or just hope] that others will come to your rescue in a natural disaster such as a flood, hurricane, wildfire, or even just a stuck car. not enough. YOUR survival is YOUR responsibility. While these BOBs may not be placed in every machine, the first step is to prepare them and the second step is to know where they are. Note: I actually plan to keep each one in a waterproof plastic

Very good budget keychain whistle and compass

The whistle and compass work well but the plastic on the top of the thermometer warps, breaks and warps easily. This is probably due to the heat exposure as I left it in the car last summer. If that mistake was mine, learn from it. The magnifying glass works well despite the plastic deformation of the rim. It takes a bit of nail work to lengthen the lens, but that probably helps protect it. The thermometer's maximum temperature is 120F/50C (122F), so keep that in mind if it's ever exposed to…

Amazing for the price

I have had two of these whistles since 2015 and both have worked great. The use was moderate, taken on hikes and thrown in the backpack in an emergency. It's pretty durable. The whistle is quite loud, but it takes effort. Light bumps do not cause noise. The Storm Whistle is much more effective and doesn't clog with water. The compass is fairly accurate, I've compared it to the Suunto compass I use for maps and it's accurate, it's just smaller so harder to read and lacks bearings. The…

Very happy with it.

Very happy with it. I was planning a tourist trip and wanted to take a mini thermometer with me. Found this and ended up replacing my old signal mirror, tiny LED and compass with it. That ended the weight savings and the thermometer AND the magnifying glass were born. I used to like having a magnifying glass for splinters or whatever, so this is a nice addition. I don't need a whistle as it's built into all backpacks these days, but it doesn't hurt to have one. The only thing that could be…

Buy it, you won't regret it

I bought it about 4 years ago and wanted to buy it for my other backpacks. They are good quality and I don't think you will regret your purchase. Every member of the family should have one if you hunt, hike or enjoy walking in the woods. I recently bought 2 more, I always have one with me when I go hunting or walking in the woods. The whistle is very loud and seems to blow it far. The compass works very well, I've used it a few times when turning around in the woods while hunting and I've…

Cool locking tool. Just practice with it.

Really cool item in a small packaging. I magnifying glass actually works to start a fire. The whistle is great for getting someone's attention when you're behind a group of ATV riders. The thermometer is just great, but I don't think I need one to tell me if it's cold or hot outside. A compass can be useful if the person knows how to use it or knows which way to go. Most of them aren't very good at either and they should go out and practice with things so that the person knows how to use them…

I bought it for a whistle and thermometer and a compass.

whistle: very loud. At first I blew on it too little and thought it was defective. I gave it a good kick and wowza yes it works great! Short bursts work well too. Compass: I'm new to using the compass, but I know west must stay west and so on. I've tried this many times in my house, I've shaken it vigorously many times and checked that the directions are pointing in the right direction. For the most part that was true, although sometimes it seems a little different, but I think it might be me…
