The blades on my cheap spiral saw broke incredibly quickly, so I ordered these as a replacement. Pondering the issue, I applied tension when fitting one of the Olson blades, but then did not tighten the top and bottom latches, relying on the tension itself to hold the fixed blade in place. I figured that tightening the top and bottom latches would cause the blade to flex unnaturally, while the pins and tension alone should provide a more correct ride. Either way, Olson blades work great and last much longer.
