I actually bought this to replace a friend of mine that I broke from pushing too hard. The ceramic blade is encased in a plastic frame with two small plastic pins connecting it to the main arm. This is a design flaw as these pins can easily break. In addition, the frame extends a little more time for cleaning. Having said all that, I probably didn't have to press as hard. So you can also blame it on user error. In terms of cleanliness, it will far surpass anything you've used in terms of sharpness. The update (January 13, 2011) may fix this. Downgrading to 3 stars as with all other negative reviews, not sure if this is user error. In case you are wondering, here are the details of my kludgey solution: 1. Drill a hole in the black frame with a very small diameter drill bit (smaller than the hole in the red frame). Be especially careful not to drill too deep as the ceramic can easily break.2. Use a small screw to replace the pin.3. I didn't have an exact fit so I had to cut off the end of the screw. 3 years later it still works.
