My lamp went out after 30 hours. I usually use the projector once a year, two films, on Memorial Day. The rest of the time, the radiator lies in a quilted bag with slits in the closet. I hesitated for a long time before deciding to try a non-original lamp. $40 versus $200 (if the projector was $600) seemed more reasonable. One disappointment (of many) is that without a working bulb, no diagnostics are possible - no clock, no trouble codes, nothing. You *should* be able to plug in your PC and view the problem log or error codes. no So I bought an aftermarket lamp and tried it out. No fun. I have contacted Epson. Since the projector was out of warranty (obviously) they could only provide me with a shipping address and return authorization for repair --- but --- shipping (round trip) and an approximate repair (which is likely a replacement with a refurbished device) was more than a new purchase. I liked how it worked - within 30 hours (could be less). But Epson is definitely not on my shopping list as I can buy a brand new projector from another manufacturer with better specs for less than an OEM lamp. Hope you have better luck than me.
