I've read a few reviews complaining about the range of the remote control, but no problems. So I'm wondering if these people were trying to open their garage from the hot tub upstairs at the other end of their mansion? I live in an apartment building in a very densely populated part of Los Angeles and have to drive down a narrow alley with garage doors to get to my seat. With all this around, I can use the remote at the start of my lane, about 60-70 feet from the garage. I wanted an easy replacement for my garage without having to go through a homeowners association for maintenance to get it into my apartment, so I broke open my old one (same brand, only appears to be 25+ years old). to see what I'm working with On other older models, push the switch either up or down to program the frequency on the garage door. With this remote, you need to press the bottom or top of the inside, and the other end that you don't press goes up. It was visually confusing so it took two tries to code properly. Rule of thumb: when switching up/down from an old remote, pressing the DOWN paddle on the new console correlates with pressing the bottom of the INSIDE.
