later As mentioned the notches are weak and break easily and they appear to be slightly larger in diameter than the original screw because they don't go in as easily. I've been working on this thing all day trying to get it out with a vise only to break it a second time so I did a little more research and figured out how to get the whole manifold out which isn't very hard, but you can seriously mess things up if you don't put it back in properly. After drilling it out and damaging the distributor, I wanted to buy a JB weld and repair it, but settled on a brand new one, which costs between $35 and $150 "depending on where you buy it", and they all come with lid and rotor too. I personally decided to get a new one because now I'd rather take my losses and I need to get a new "splitter shaft seal" because the old one fell apart and jb welding would cost another $12 to fix and I'm not sure how much i trust this cap and rotor so i cut my losses here. I didn't realize the importance of getting the distributor set up correctly so I didn't tag it and what should have been an afternoon job turned into weeks of searching for the right CAM Retard setup app and I was just lucky that Dash Command wasn't working last week so I bought a Car Gauge Pro only to find out this afternoon that it doesn't work on a pre 1999 Chevy 5.7. l Vortec vehicles but luckily Dash Command is back on the play store and I could see that I'm off 26ยฐ which is a whole tooth on the distributor so I have to take it off again and repeat the process for the 5th time. I also had to buy a Bafx OBD2 bluetooth scanner so this job cost me an extra $40 to buy apps and an OBD2 scanner which I was going to buy anyway but now needed. The worst thing is I put all my money into this Suburban and I need it to work properly before I sell my other car but due to a broken propeller and lack of knowledge I am losing my financial position due to these stupid distributor caps and rotors supplied with screws. KEEP SILENCE HERE - JUST AIR. Worst part of this whole process - I just wanted to change the spark plugs but the wires broke, then the old "fragile" distributor cap broke as well as soon as I started pulling the wires so I ordered that and waited for some wires a few days then some more weather" and now i have to wait then in a few days the whole distributor assembly will come in the mail and again the weather ๐ค. Be careful what you ask because I bought this Suburban K1500 from 1997 to learn how to operate vehicles better and I'm definitely getting quite a crash course and broken joints.
