Revainrating 4 out of 5

I have been working on lowering the level in my pool.

I used this in my approximately 15,000 gallon play pool (the play pool is just a 5 foot deep pool with no deep part). I live in Phoenix and we've had much more than average rain this year, enough to keep my pool well above the level a skimmer could run at and not even allow the rim spray (the rim, like over the pool ) fixed towards the deck, typically used to lower the temperature of the pool). I used to have a kieselguhr filter with a non-return valve and used it to drain the water. We replaced it with a cartridge filter last year and there is no easy way to lower the water level (even using an aerator to evaporate the water didn't help). I finally gave in and bought this, hooked up my 100ft garden hose and in less than 3 hours it went from 6 inches to 8 inches. Worked for me, was reasonably priced and (the reason I chose this brand/model) had a 25ft cord. Plugged it into my GFCI socket next to the filter, put it on the second tier in the pool and let it rip. Very happy with the performance, I'm sure you could pay more for a larger capacity device and get it done in less time but for the price it's very satisfying and just what I was looking for. I suspect the capacity was reduced by the long garden hose, but the easiest way to use a drain is in the front driveway, so the 100ft hose barely reaches. The city doesn't like it when you dump puddles in the street so I was quite happy with the performance even with the hose length extended.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No power
