Works well with cold water. Great for draining my hot tub when the water is chilled first. For some reason, when pumping warm water, the flow rate was greatly reduced. I suppose hot water would be even worse. I tried using this to circulate water through a tankless water heater to flush the water heater. This worked well at first, but after about 30 minutes, as the water warmed up from the heat of the pump motor, the flow quickly dropped. It worked normally again once I let the water cool down.

Despite some issues with the specs and instructions regarding the float switch I can say this is an attractive and well designed product. It's almost a pity that an attractive device that serves as a drainage pump is hidden in an underground basin. We use this pump under our hot tub as it rises off the ground at the end of our pool which is surrounded by a patio. When it rains heavily, the space below fills with water. Since mosquitoes, mold and other nasty creatures breed in stagnant water, we don't like stagnant water, so this pump is always with us.
