We use this pump under our hot tub as it rises off the ground at the end of our pool which is surrounded by a patio. When it rains heavily, the space below fills with water. Since mosquitoes, mold and other nasty creatures breed in stagnant water, we don't like stagnant water, so this pump is always with us. We just have to plug it in and in no time our puddles will be tidy. It doesn't have an auto shut off though, so you'll have to be careful not to burn out the motor BUT we've used other pumps that didn't seem to last long. Time, and that means watching them to make sure they're off when the water is drained. You can purchase an optional accessory that will do this, but we decided against it. They also offered a 3-year Square Trade Protection Plan for $7.94 which we purchased. It will be interesting to see how it turns out when we have to use it. For the most part we don't give extended warranties because they usually find room to get out of it, but we'll see. Hopefully it's just a wasted $7.00 and this pump will still be good. So far this pump does exactly what it says on the tin and does exactly what we want it to do.
