Review on WHIRLWIND USA LSS 14 Inch Diamond Saw Blade - Ideal for Effortless Cutting of Concrete, Marble, Granite, Brick, and Masonry! by Ken Pinell

Light to moderate use, but still got a heavy job done

I had to remove the old grille insert and install a new one, but the cutout was 2" wide different. So I bought this blade to cut through the rock to make room for the new grill liner. Now I have given 4 stars because although it technically worked, the blade is now unusable and can no longer be used. Maybe it was my fault as the description says they are light to medium. I guess it was hard work. The stone I had to cut was 3 inches thick (sandstone) and I had to cut 2 lines of 2 feet each. The blade worked great the first time. But after a quarter of the second pass, the blade stopped cutting. It was overheating. I let it stand for 30 minutes and cooled it with water and then let it stand for another hour. When I got back to cutting, it took about 10 seconds per millimeter of distance. So the last foot and a half took about an hour of excessive exertion and exertion. I ended up giving up 2 inches from the end and just cut out the rest. Attached are photos of the stone I cut. The blade looks good, but no longer cuts. Although this blade was made for light to medium duty cutting jobs, it still did the job and saved me hundreds of dollars. My choice was to either carve it myself with this blade or hire a contractor to install the grate for at least $500. Although I'm happy with the performance, the blade is shattered. My advice to anyone looking to purchase this blade is to make sure the job you need to do is in the light to medium duty category. I'm not sure what that means - whether it means the thickness of the stone or something. But of course that doesn't mean the distance you have to cut. 4 feet is like cutting 4 tiles in length.

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • Almost ok
