As an avid maker and YouTuber, I'm often asked what to buy to get started with Arduino. I usually ask them what they want to do with the Arduino and suggest components that will be useful for their project. But this kit is very cheap for all the components included. So I decided to check it out before recommending it to my friends. I am happy to report that this is superb quality! You could get it direct from China cheaper, but for just a few bucks I got it from China in two days instead of four weeks of waiting. It's a good kit, but let's start with the bad news: it's a Chinese clone, not a real Arduino, but it works fine. You may need to install some drivers, but I didn't because I already use many Arduino clones. There are no printed instructions, there are a few "tutorials" on the CD which are more of a building guide using various components with very little explanation. The schematics were often confusing, but luckily there are many FREE great Arduino resources on the web. There's even a decent fake on the CD. Hopefully the worst thing about this set is that ALL the white jumper wires were bad (two ends not connected). The wires look fine but there should be a manufacturing defect on the entire white batch. I spent over an hour before concluding that SOME of the wires weren't working! Has anyone heard of a broken jumper?! If you're still reading, you might be wondering why I gave this article five stars?! Well I contacted Kuman and they were very responsive and sent a replacement jumper and matrix (it was a dead pixel). Thank you KumanTech! Now for the good: This kit offers excellent value for money. I'm not even sure if you could buy all the parts individually at a better price in China. It's worth having everything in one box two days after ordering. Items will be shipped well packaged. The parts that need to be added have been added. Not a single pin was bent (as is often the case with direct orders from China). There are many similar sets out there but I like this one because of the parts included in the kit. The number of projects you can create ONLY with this kit is pretty amazing. You can really start playing with Arduino using exactly what you get in this kit (and the internet as your resource). It even comes with a battery! You don't really need this because you can power whatever else you need to program the Arduino from your computer's USB port. I could go on and on praising every piece of this kit. There are so many parts to play with. I'll stop writing and keep playing. AMA.
