Benefits: Width between spindles just fits (no extra space) for Gutterman Mara 100 spools of thread and does not require wall hanging. It will fit in a dresser drawer at least 5" deep. Cons: It's not particularly well made. The long bolts that hold everything together weren't machined consistently, so some of them were a bit thicker than others so some of them didn't go through the holders. Or maybe the holes weren't drilled to the tolerances of the bolts. Wing nuts are cheap and can be removed instantly by finger tightening. Vertical metal spindles fit well. The entire unit is designed to be installed at a slight angle and the backrest is slightly higher. I didn't attach the legs to the back so mine sits flat on the table but the coils lean forward.
